Relay module is a commonly used electrical equipment, which has a wide range of applications in industrial automation, power systems and other fields. The following is a guide to common troubleshooting and maintenance of relay modules:


Common Troubleshooting

Contact failure

Contact sticking: Check whether the load current exceeds the rated current of the relay module, frequent overload will make the contacts overheat and stick. If the load is normal, check whether there are impurities and burrs on the surface of the contacts, which may lead to poor contact and then heat sticking.

Poor contact: Measure the contact resistance of the contacts, if the resistance is too large, indicating that there is poor contact. It may be that the contact surface is oxidised, dirty, or the contact spring elasticity is weakened, resulting in insufficient contact pressure.


Coil failure

Coil short circuit: Use a multimeter to measure the coil resistance, if the resistance value is significantly less than the nominal value, there may be a coil short circuit. A short circuit may be caused by damage to the coil insulation, resulting in a short circuit between turns.

Open coil: If the coil resistance is infinity when measured with a multimeter, the coil is open. This is usually due to disconnected coil leads, broken wires inside the coil, or loose terminals resulting in poor contact.


Mechanical failure

Armature stagnation: Check whether the moving parts of the armature are stuck with foreign objects, or whether the armature's rotating shaft is rusted or worn, resulting in inflexible rotation.

Spring failure: Observe whether the spring is deformed or broken, or its elasticity is weakened. Spring failure will affect the action characteristics of the relay, so that the contacts can not be properly absorbed or released.


Maintenance Guidelines

Regular cleaning: Use a clean soft cloth to wipe the housing and contacts of the relay module at regular intervals to remove dust, oil and other impurities to prevent them from affecting the performance of the relay. For oxidised layer and dirt on the contact surface, special contact cleaner can be used to clean them.

Check the connection: Check the relay module's terminals regularly for looseness to ensure a firm connection. At the same time, check whether the connecting wires of coils and contacts are broken, aged, etc., and replace them in time if there are any problems.

Performance test: Use professional test equipment to test the coil resistance, contact contact resistance, suction voltage, release voltage and other parameters of the relay module regularly to ensure that its performance meets the requirements. Repair or replace the relays with reduced performance in time.

Environmental maintenance: Keep the installation environment of the relay module dry and ventilated, and avoid using it in high temperature, humid and dusty environment. At the same time, prevent the relay from vibration and shock, so as not to affect its normal work.
